HOW TO USE CAM BUCKLE STRAPS TO SECURE YOUR BOAT TO THE ROOF RACK OF YOUR VEHICLE

Figure 1

1)  Hold the cam buckle in one hand and throw the other end of the strap over the boat.  Leave       the buckle hanging (see fig. 1) and go to the other side of the vehicle.
2)  Lace the strap under the crossbar, close to the boat.  Keep the strap from crossing over
itself and throw the end back over the boat (see fig. 2).  By not crossing the strap,
adjustment of the buckle height will be easier.

3)  Go back to where you started and lace the end of the strap under the crossbar, close to the boat.  The buckle should be placed high enough on the boat to be able to pull down comfortably when tightening the strap.

  4)  Press the tab on the buckle and insert the end of the strap into the underside of the buckle.
Continue pressing on the tab as you pull the strap through until the strap over the boat is
no longer loose.  Release the tab on the cam buckle.

5)  Pull down on the strap end to tighten (see fig. 3).

6)  Repeat above for the other crossbar.

7)  For additional safety and / or peace of mind, strap the bow      and stern to the bumper or some other secure part of the car
(see fig. 4) and you are ready to go.

Total tie down time 2 — 3 minutes max.

**Canoes are transported upside down on racks or foam blocks.
For kayak transport, the industry rule of thumb is "Plastic           kayaks on their sides — Composite kayaks on their bottom".
To prevent hull damage, all Plastic kayaks (Sea Kayaks,           Recreation or Sit-Ons) use Yakima Kayak Stacker.or           HullRaiser J-Cradles on their Load Bars or Cargo Carrier.
